Remixing Old Tracks in Spatial Audio Is ‘Sacrilegious’ — Pixel Envy

I’m hopeful that surround sound AKA Dolby Atmos AKA Spatial Audio results in some truly unique and delightful musical experiences that I’ve never had before, but the more time goes by, the more I feel like this has real big “3D movie energy”.

To be clear, 3D movies still happen, and they can be fun, but they’re not the default and we’ve all basically agreed at this point that you can’t just convert an old movie to 3D and make it better. You can do it to charge more for TVs and movie tickets, but you can’t do it to automatically make the art better.
